There are calls for employers to advertise apprenticeship vacancies to provide opportunities to young people and help solve recruitment issues.

With the end of the academic year there is a fresh cohort of young people who are looking for apprenticeship opportunities to enter the world of work and progress their skills.

There is a particular desire from 18 year olds who have gained level 3 vocational and technical qualifications to progress into work while continuing to develop. Many level 3 students who have completed BTECs, T Levels and A Levels are looking at starting their careers rather than pursue a degree.

With recruitment proving difficult for many employers apprenticeships are a route that could be utilisied more to access young talent. Through our work on the LSIP employers frequently express the desire to find intelligent, skilled people to join their business.

Offering Level 4+ apprenticeships could be a way of accessing a pool of bright, talented people who want to work.

In order to fing out how to best advertise for an apprentice you can either visit https://www.lancashireskillshub.co.uk/lancashire-skills-pledge/ or contact Paul Hannant, Project Coordinator (Apprenticships & Technical Education) at the Lancashire Skills & Employment Hub.
